Each of our 300+ partners — including the nation’s top academic institutions, nonprofits, foundations, companies, and government agencies, among others — have made over 500 commitments to the goal of preparing and supporting 100,000 excellent STEM teachers and addressing the underlying causes of why it’s so hard to get and keep great STEM teachers in the first place.
All commitments are aligned with the Grand Challenges and contribute to our goal in one of three areas:
Recruiting future teachers in greater numbers and with stronger STEM backgrounds, and better preparing them for the classroom
Transforming how STEM teachers are hired, supported, and developed, so they continue to improve and inspire more students
Changing policy, sharing the STEM story with the wider world, and contributing funds that keep our momentum going
Some thought our goal of 100,000 STEM teachers in 10 years was not just audacious, but impossible. Thanks to the collective effort of our network, we’re not only on track to reach our goal by 2021, we expect to exceed it. Despite historic declines in teacher preparation programs and myriad challenges facing teachers, we’ve proven that a network with a shared purpose, trust, and inspiration, committed to learning and collaborative problem-solving, can accomplish truly unprecedented feats.
