What makes STEM education feel so personal to you?
I went to a public high school that drew students from a diverse range of economic, social, and racial backgrounds. Despite every student’s relatively similar aptitude at the time, today there is a gap in those students professional achievement across demographic lines. I see STEM learning as a tool to open the minds of all young people to critical thinking, and ultimately, be the catalyst that closes the achievement gap when those young people become adults.
